Wee Ann’s Fairies

One night a little girl was born
A fairy blew a tiny horn
And when the fairies heard the sound
They all came dancing gladly round
Down the chimney
‘Neath the door
Thro’ the keyhole
More and more.
They clapped their hands and danced with joy
Because the babe was not a boy
Then said a funnY little man
“O fairy Queen, please call her Ann'”
The Queen said “Yes”,
and all began
To sing about
Wee baby Ann.
They played until the morn drew near
‘Twas time for them to disappear
For night is when they like to roam
The Queen said “Come! We must go home'”
Up the chimney
‘Neath the door
Thro’ the keyhole
More and more.
Next night they all came back again
Wee fairy girls; wee fairy men
And ever since, when Ann’s asleep
Her little guardians come and Peep,
Then, down the chimney
‘Neath the door
Thro’ they keyhole
More and more.
And sometimes if wee Ann is bad
The fairies cry because they’re sad
But when she Pleases Dad and Mum
They’re very happy, and theY’ll come
Down the chimney
‘Neath the door
Thro’ they keyhole
More and more.
